May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Wednesday...Carol is Home

Carol is home today, Wednesday, and resting comfortably. She came through the procedure with no complications. She has experienced some nausea already and is in some pain as well. The Porters so appreciate your continued prayers. I (Cathy) dropped my phone in some water last night and it is majorly dead at the moment...will try to get it fixed today so I can take your calls...so sorry about that! We'll keep you posted on how Carol is feeling and when she will be up for visitors.

Hi Carol,
You have been on my mind and in my prayers. It sounds like you are enduring with the grace you have always shown and allowing those who love you to show it. It is one more way you glorify God. Keep fighting, you are as always an inspiration!

Dear Carol,
Greetings from Texas! We are here to be w/ our boys and their families for Christmas & New Year's, then back to B-field. Yesterday and today, freezing cold - high yesterday 40, today 34, I think. No snow as yet.
Saw something last night that made me think of you: thousands (no exaggeration!) of black birds continuously swooping then roosting on wires then blanketing the ground. If you have ever seen the movie, The Birds, this was very reminiscent of that except no animosity. The birds were tiny, maybe the size of hummingbirds, then a little larger and then a bit larger than that. I don't know if it was a flock making sure the fledglings were ready to fly south or what. But it was a sight to behold! I wish I had had a video camera so I could have sent you a video of it. John and I watched them for ten or so minutes, they were so captivating.
Well, know you are loved and prayed for, even in Texas. God bless!

Dear Carol,
Hope you had a very Merry Christmas! It is warm and humid here in Texas. Thunderstorms are expected tomorrow. We have had a good time with our grandchildren, but are looking forward to being back home again.
I am concerned that there haven't been any new entries to your blog in some days. I do hope you are doing well. I pray for you every day.
God bless you and yours!

Just a brief note to "bloggers."

Cathy is out of town visiting family so blog will be updated next week. Carol has had respite from from active Chemo treatments since overnight emolization treatment the 18th-19th of December . Carols and Mark had a great visit 12/26 - through Sunday, 12/28 from son, Greg, and beloved granddaughters, Emily and Sarah. Great pictures were taken and will apprear on blog when our "technician" returns home. Erika and Tim hosted a fondue party for the family that Carol still raves about - When Carol encounters a taste she enjoys, it is true manna for her. Like Joyce's wonton soup!

My blog message to Carol:

Good Morning, Dear Carol,

And a very Happy New Year 2009!.

How good it was to hear your positive reponse to your post-Christmas holiday visit with Dr. Reddy at Stanford yesterday912/31/08). He is certainly right when he praised your postive attitude and loving support (from Our Father!).

"Utmost for His Highest" this first day of 2009 referenced Phil. 1:20. The Message says it like this:
"And I am going to keep that celebration going because I know how it's going to turn out. Through your faithful prayers and the generous response of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, everything He wants to do in and through me will be done. I can hardly wait to continue on my course."

So Climb on , my friend.

I have decided on "Streams in the Desert," by L.B. Cowman, for my 2009 guided devotional. I found the very first day very inspiring and encourageing and want to share an excerpt:
"The land you are...to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end." -Deuteronomy 11:11-12

From the 1st day's page:
"And so it is with us! It is the difficulty encountered on the hills [mountain?!] that drives us to the throne of grace and brings the showers of blessing. Yes, it is the hills, the cold and seemingly barren [and painful] hills of life that we question and complain about, that bring down the showers [of blessings]...
We cannot see what loss, sorrow, and trials are accomplishing. We need only to trust. The Father comes near to take our hand and lead us on our way today. It will be a good and blessed New Year!"

"He leads us on by paths we did not know;
Upward He leads us, though our steps be slow,
Though oft we faint and falter on the way,
Though storms and darkness oft obscure the day;
Yet when clouds are gone,
We know He leads us on.

He leads us on through all the unquiet years;
Past all our dreamland hopes, and doubts, and fears,
He guides our steps, through all the tangled maze
Of losses, sorrows, and o'er clouded days;
We know His will is done;
And stll He leads us on.
-Nicholaus Ludwig Zinzendorf

Much Love and continued prayers and laughter,

"Thing Two!"
