Chelse, Carol and Jill on the couch.Cathy for Carol
As you can see from the photos above our dear Carol is back! She had a few bad days...reactions to the IL2 that were fairly severe. Her organs, blood pressure and heart rate are great, but Carol did have some neurological reactions to the treatment that are within normal parameters, but were a bit more severe than the doctors would like to normally see. Dr. Reddy will be adjusting the medication for the next go-round to lesson this affect. Please pray that these side-affects would be prevented from happening for the future treatments.
Carol's appetite has returned...yea! Please pray that her strength returns quickly through the next week and that her blood counts return to normal...her next treatment will begin October 27 with another weeks stay at Stanford hospital. Her nausea has been minimal, but please continue to pray for that issue as well.
Another specific prayer request...Carol has her second pet scan on Tuesday, October 21, in the afternoon...please pray for a good report and wisdom for the doctors as to the right "mix" of IL2 and chemo drugs to administer starting October 27.
Next week would be a good time for some scheduled visits, but as Carol's immune system is compromised please be certain that you are free of any symptoms of colds or flu and that you have not been around anyone else that is ill. Please email or call Cathy's cell to set up a time to visit and know that "flexibility" is in the cards as Carol does tire easily and sometimes thinks she can do more than she really can...but thankfully the batteries are recharging steadily each day!
Carol mentioned today that she is learning so much through this climb...about obedience, about fellowship in the body of Christ...and her heartfelt prayer is to know her awesome God more fully and completely through this journey.
Much love to you all from both Mark and Carol...and many thanks for your prayers and acts of service on their behalf...Mark and Carol are both overwhelmed with gratitude for you all!

Hi Carol,
I'm sooo happy to hear that you are doing better! I continue to pray for you and as I was doing my bible study this morning we studied this verse, Lk. 18:7 - God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them.
It has been so faith building to see how faithfully and speedily, God has cared for you and answered all the prayers for you!
I'm going to try to come by next week for a visit. I will check with Cathy for a good time.
Love, Becky Pine
Hi Carol! Our family is still praying for you daily - I'm glad you're feeling better! I was thinking of visiting you with baby Zachary but our family just caught a cold from visiting the zoo this week. It'll probably be another week until we're completely cleared. But, take care. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Regina
Yay! It's great to see you smiling again! The MWM women are praying for you. We love you and miss you terribly and can't wait until we can visit. We are all with you in this journey in spirit if not in body.

Carol,
So glad you are recovering some of your lost energy. That is what was missing from retreat, weekend before last: Carol's energy and impetus! But it was a great time and many dealt w/ hard heart issues.
I am studying the atributes of God - today's assurance is that "God cannot sacrifice one atribute for another; each decision of the Almighty God is as loving as it is wise and good...God can never make a mistake...God knows exactly what He is allowing in your life. He sees the total picture of your circumstances. He has chosen for you the best direction to achieve His transforming and loving purposes in you and in the flow of history...God is carefully leading you through life situations wisely designed to develop within you a new nature after the likeness of His own. God's method of developing this new nature is by teaching you how to respond in reliance on Him in daily life situations." Wow! I know this is where you are each moment of every day, and how you have tried to live anyway.
I love you and miss you. Somehow, I will get up to see, hopefully before too long.

isn't it amazing how even though the corrupted state of this world and the powers of evil attack Carol yet Carol, because our Lord is working in her, takes the situation and uses it to increase her faith and character in Him and glorifies Him by encouraging and praying for the rest of us. Carol, your witness is a godly example to us all and He is using you for His purposes both in your joy and your pain! Keep climbing!
Dear Friend Carol...Continuing to pray for you and your family. Jake keeps me informed as well as this wonderful blogspot. I am so glad to hear you are better...you are a brave women and I am very proud of you and honored to be your friend. Snug up the laces on your hiking boots and keep climbing my sister!! Love to you and yours, Terry
Hi, Carol!
Me again. Doing my Bible study for Sunday now - Attributes of God: omniscience. Came to a paragraph that I feel the Lord wants me to share with you. David Jeremiah is the author of our study guide...
Ps 142:3 says, "When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path." Jeremiah comments, "God knows what we experience. He knows every minute of our pain and suffering. He not only knows what we feel, He knows why we feel what we feel. He knows how it happened, and how long it's going to last, and how intense it is. He knows every emotion that's associated with it. And when you're going through difficult times, sometimes all you can do is look up and say, 'Father, you know.'"
When you are up to it, I included you in those I sent an e-mail re our son, asking for prayer, because I know that when you are up to it, you will pray with us for him. In fact, I know you will count it a privilege to do so and I thank you for that.
May God continue to bring strength to your body and soul. And be assured that whatever is coming, He already knows and is already meeting you there. If we would only grasp a part of what His omniscience means to us, I think we would live altogether different lives. We would be more careful about our thoughts and attitudes, but we would also trust Him to a much greater degree than we do. I'm learning to lean... Thank you for the example of leaning you have been to me.
In Christ, much, much love, donna
Carol,
You have been in my prayers. I am so glad that you are feeling better and getting stronger. What a wonderful blessing.

good morning from very cold oregon (30*)
my prayers are with you continually.
"fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name and you are mine. when you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. when you walk through fire you shall not be burned and the flame shall not consume you...YOU, Carol, are precious in My sight, and honored and I LOVE YOU" said the LORD in Isaiah 43
may you be refreshed once again that you are loved by your Creator as well as your fellow saints and ministering angels!
hugs and much love, donna penna justice
Hi Carol,
We saw Cathy this week and she gave me your blog address. I just finished reading through all of the entries. Wow! You have gone through a lot in the past month.
I hope that the treatments are able to get rid of the cancer and I'll pray that you recover quickly from each treatment. You are blessed to have so many people that care about you!
All our best,
Tina, Srikant and Ashley Mantha
Carol,
Reading your blog entries, I am overwhelmed with God's presence and how you teach so many- far and wide to follow Jesus and trust God. I pray every word you read from us gives you a fresh feeling of being surrounded by all those who love you.And that you can literally feel the thousands of hugs being spiritially "willed" to you and your family. Your faith and willingness to use even this to God's glory is truly an inspiration.
