No Room in the Inn

Cathy for Carol

...just a quick update! Carol and Mark left the house bright and early to sojourn over to Stanford Hospital to get Carol checked into the hospital only to find that the monitored beds are impacted...it appears anyone majoring in cancer at Stanford must wait for beds just as engineering students must wait for classes! Check-in day will be Tuesday at 9:00am instead. The day was not wasted however...Dr. Reddy was very encouraged to see that Carol's blood counts had recovered nicely and commented that, "she had sailed through her first chemo round with flying colors." He was impressed with her fitness level and her recovery from fatigue as well. He believes that even though they will be adding the interleukin2 low dose treatment simultaneously to the chemo drugs this week that the side-affects will not be drastically different...since she tolerated the chemo well, adding the interleukin might make her slightly more fatigued, but not significantly so. Please pray that the side affects will be minimal...specifically that there will be NO damage to her heart and again that nausea and fatigue would be kept at bay. A second pet scan will be taken after this second round of treatment to assess progress...please pray that both treatments are effective in knocking out the growth of the cancer cells. The schedule for treatment as it stands now will be one week in hospital (at Stanford) receiving both Interleukin2 and chemo, two weeks at home and then back to the hospital for another 5 days...repeating the cycle as the doctor sees fit.

Thank you for your prayers...Mark and Carol will keep you posted as they know more.

Hi Carol! I can't believe they ran out of beds! And it's not surprising that he found you so fit after a feat like half dome! :) I can sympathize with nausea and fatigue from my pregnancy - yuck. My new baby and I are praying for you tonight. I love the updates on this blog and am checking in during the night feedings to pray for you more. Oh, you should be receiving a pic of baby Zach soon. If you're ever down our street again (I was reminded of this when I read how you walked to Mexxis) feel free to stop by -- or I can walk over to Catalpa to show you the new baby.

It was great to see Carol and her strong support team at the Cancer Clinic on Monday morning. I am sorry to hear that there were no beds, but I know that ALL of this is in God's best timing. I will look forward to seeing more of Carol and the family as the weeks progress. Carol shared with me God's amazing orchestration of friends and family members and I was encouraged to know that she is absolutely confident that God is working everything together in complete perfection! I am thrilled to serve as a small part of the team at the Cancer Center and look forward to watch Carol's life shine with the brightness of Christ as she endures her treatment at Stanford. I love you, Carol!

Carol- Round two of this blog. Goodness.. sooner or later I'll figure this out. So.. Jan here from Tuesday morning. We missed you but Chelse took over as our Worship leader- we're sure it's her "gift" - She really rallied us to CLAIM your healing0 you would have been proud.

Linda B brought a movie on Acts and we watched just 1-4:4 like we've studied. It gave us great visuals for the scriptures we were studying.

Also, many of us are stitching those book marks and the whole purpose is to pray for you while stitching. So you're never far from our thoughts and prayers.

I'll be sure and keep you posted on the Nascar stuff this week. By the time this is over you'll be so hooked on it you'll be sporting the sweatshirts on Tuesday mornings. HA!

Love you- praying for you-
Jan

I was thinking of your climb and thinking of the song, "Go tell it on Mountain- over the hills and everywhere..... I'm sure that's exactly what you're doing!

Keep shining your little light!!!!!!!!!!!!!
