~Praises of the Day
- Pic line established smoothly (the pic line is a port to enable IV lines to be given without constantly sticking Carol)
- Private room
- Wonderful care from the staff
- Foot massage given by Jill Daniels
- Carol says she loves Cathy for hanging in there with her (she made me type that)
- No muscular pain on left side or in right shoulder
- Minimal leakage of fluid from her capillaries (a side affect of the IL2)
- NO damage to her heart (possible side affect of IL2)
- Blood pressure to not drop below 90/50
- Sufficient sleep to make it through tomorrow
- That the four chemo drugs and the IL2 do their work
- Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded (Carol's emphasis) you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you where ever you go.
P.S. (This is Cathy...please leave Carol your thoughts and prayers for her on the blog especially this week as she will not be able to have very many visitors...the head nurse said she will probably be pretty fatigued fairly quickly and that no one that is around children may visit because of the risk of cold or flu viruses coming into this unit with so many patients having compromised immune systems. Please call Cathy first before coming to the hospital as Carol is being poked and prodded day and NIGHT and is getting very little sleep...we want to be extra careful to preserve any times of rest that Carol may be able to grab throughout the day...thank you!)

Oh, Carol, I'm praying specifically that all the different things that you have to have done in the hospital won't overwhelm you. Keep asking questions! I remember Skip Smith (teacher at CCBS) saying, "There are NO stupid questions!" I hope you believe that, too. And it's okay to ask more than once, too (...this from a woman who's actively going thru menopause ...LAUGH!).
I'm taking a very difficult class this quarter (2nd Language Acquisition) and have felt pretty dumb in trying to just read the textbook, but I'm going to claim your verse and dog my way thru it! "Whatever you do for the Lord, do it with ALL your might!"(even chemo and interleukin).
Love,
Melanie
I love that verse - thank you for sharing. It means more than I can say in a comment. We are praying that each moment of rest will renew you. And the chemo fog is it's own blessing sometimes - the pain, the difficulties - may they be forgotten and only the joy of being able to glorify the Lord through all your circumstances remain.
Hug,
Nikki
Hi Carol,
I love to see that you still have your sense of humor despite all the poking and pricking going on at Stanford. Mark and I are praying for you frequently. It's so amazing how God works, the verse that you have on your blog spot was the one I was going to say in my post.
Mark and I so admire your perseverance, (you are tougher than Lance Armstrong) and the dignity and grace in which you are handling your treatments.
Today a friend came over and is struggling with a forgiveness issue which is spilling over into her relationships and poisoning them. I took out my CTO book and we went through the steps of forgiveness. And I thought of you and I really miss you and our time together. I am so grateful that you lead me through that study.
Love you, Becky
When I was boarding the plane last night heading home from Houston, I was praying this specific Joshua verse for you. I was excited to read it on your post. I was thinking specifically how you are choosing moment by moment to obey the Father and I was asking Him to continue to give you the strength to do so. As a result, may you know His presence more intimately and His love for you more deeply.
I love you,
Sharon C.
Carol,
Wish I could be with you. You are so precious to me. This song has been on my heart today, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace."
When we see each other next, we can sing it together. You are in my prayers, in my heart.
Love, Judy P.
"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way." 2TH 3:16a
These past few days while we were in Yosemite, when we caught a glimpse of Half Dome, I thought about you and your journey up Half Dome, and your current journey through cancer and it's treatment. He kept your "foot from slipping" on that mountain, so He will keep watch over each footstep on this "climb" as well. Father, I ask You be the continued strength for Carol's life, each day, each step.
Love,
Karen Rinkert
Carol,
You are on my heart and in my prayers, but more importantly you are safe and secure in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
May you be overwhelmed with his presence.
With love and admiration,
Bea Flory
Carol,
You mean so much to so many but not near as much as you mean to God. I know He is holding you in his righteous right hand. I just got the email for the request for prayer for the heart monitor to be removed. Let us know how fast God works, will ya? Can't wait to see you. Hope you are well enough for bible study next Tuesday.

Hi Carol,
Jill was so cute telling me about your little walks up and down the hallway. Your so amazing! I know Jilly is at the hospital with you right now, I wish I could be there too! Love you!

Well God is GREAT! Fritzeen sent an email out for us to pray for the removal of the heart monitor at 1:30- and just now at 3:47 we're told it's off. AWESOME!
Now I think we all need to pray for some serious REST for you tonight. LOVE YA CAROL
Let's watch God work!
Hi Carol,
Off to the retreat tomorrow. We will be missing you, thinking of you and praying for you. I will miss you most of all. I know you would rather be with all of us. I am so glad the heart monitor is off and you can rest better. I will give you a full report next week.
Love, Lynn
